Eramet Norway is committed to safeguarding the environment by integrating sustainable practices into its industrial operations. Through advanced technologies, strict compliance with environmental standards, and a focus on continuous improvement, we minimize our ecological footprint while contributing to local and global environmental goals.

Our smelters are located in vibrant communities, in close proximity to neighbours and beautiful nature, which places great demands on our environmental behaviour. Several actions are being implemented to achieve continuous improvement of production methods and optimisation of the cleaning facilities. In addition, we regularly conduct studies, research and development projects to acquire new knowledge and adopt new and more effective treatment methods.

Water purification: Modern facilities ensure that water discharged from operations meets high environmental standards.

Dust and gas control: Environmental filters and capture systems are used to reduce emissions and improve air quality around production sites.

Circular economy initiatives: By-products such as silica green stone are repurposed into new industrial uses, reducing waste and supporting resource efficiency.

Emissions control by an independent third party

Advanced treatment systems are implemented on our operational sites to manage emissions to air, water, and soil. Each production site operates under strict permits regulated by the Norwegian Environment Agency, ensuring compliance with over 100 limit values per site.

Continuous monitoring: in order to ensure that we operate within our limits, we conduct frequent testing and extensive auditing by accredited and independent third parties.

All results are reported transparently to the Norwegian Environment Agency, publicly available on the Directorate’s Web pages.
