A strong dialogue with civil society

Eramet Norway strives to be a driving force for societal development in the communities where we operate. As part of the Eramet group, we have a clear focus on all aspects related to social responsibility and sustainability thanks to the Group’s Act for Positive Mining CSR roadmap.

Our responsibility is not only to contribute by producing metals that are essential to the ‘green shift’, developing talents and maintaining safe working conditions and well-being in our workplaces, but also by using renewable energy to be a responsible company.

In order to achieve that, Eramet Norway has developed a solid relationship with its neighbours, with associations, the educational and academic institutions and the authorities, which allows the company to establish a dialogue.  Everyone is better informed about projects and can propose solutions to reduce negative effects, while promoting the search for a positive contribution to issues of general interest.

We contribute by driving local development

As a responsible and sustainable metallurgical company, Eramet Norway is committed to maximize the local content in Norway and in the areas where it operates. Its CSR actions find their foundations in Eramets’ Act for Positive Mining roadmap. Programs are co-developed with local authorities and communities.

In 2023, Eramet Norway supported local cultural and sporting events through an annual community investment of €147,000, benefiting more than 10,000 people in the region where it operates. The company supports sport teams, organizations and events among its local communities. It is also  actively involved in the development of the educational system, and supports business development and infrastructure improvements in its areas of operation.

In total, Eramet’s contribution to Norway’s economy amounted to almost €271 million in 2023. Local purchasing totalled €206 million, while the company paid €12 million in taxes in 2023.

These contributions reflect our commitment to strengthening local economies and improving the quality of life in our communities. We are determined to build on this momentum, in line with our ambition to process mineral resources responsibly, and to become a benchmark CSR player in the metallurgical sector.
