A world leader for low-carbon refined manganese alloys
Eramet Norway is a world leader for refined manganese alloys production with one of the industry’s lowest carbon footprints due to access to renewable hydroelectric power, a skilled workforce, systematic knowledge building, targeted investments, and continuous development of the organisation.
Committed to sustainable metals, Eramet Norway is proud to be part of the Government’s “Green Industrial Initiative” that will help Norwegian businesses and industries to transition to a low-emission society and contribute to the creation of attractive future-oriented jobs all over the country.
Our low-carbon manganese alloys products are mostly sold to the European market under Eramet’s commercial brand “eraLow”. Eramet’s low-CO2 manganese alloys have one of the lowest carbon intensities in the industry (scope 1 and 2). Our climate footprint is 40% lower than the average in the industry. To reinforce the credibility of this promise, the carbon footprint of all our “eraLow” alloys is verified by an external auditor, DNV.
Eramet Norway is a 100% subsidiary of Eramet, a French mining and metallurgical group. It is part of Eramet’s manganese alloys business branch that includes three plants at Eramet Marietta (Ohio, USA), Eramet Dunkerque (France) and Eramet Comilog (Gabon).
Responsible ore from our Comilog operations in Gabon
Eramet Norway consumes close to 1 million tonnes of manganese ore per year, of which more than 50% originates from the Comilog mine in Gabon which is also a subsidiary of the Eramet group and the world-leading manganese ore producer. Thanks to the use of 80% hydroelectric electricity, Comilog markets products with the lowest CO2 levels. As a responsible and sustainable mining company, Comilog has voluntarily committed to be audited against IRMA (Initiative for a Responsible Mining Assurance).
Our product, produced according to the best ethical standards, are traceable from start to finish, from the ore production to the end product sold to our European clients.
Eramet Norway’s three plants – Porsgrunn, Sauda and Kvinesdal – can provide a full range of manganese alloys qualities: HC FeMn, MC and LC FeMn, standard SiMn and LC SiMn to our clients.
